My wife has an '04 and it's fun to drive, excellent in the snow and I second apudapus, they are surprisingly easy to work on. You can literally change the exhaust out from the turbo back in about 15 minutes, clutch/flywheel change wasnt too bad other than it being so heavy because of the front diff. Routine maintenance is straight forward and inexpensive for parts for the most part. They take well to mods if you choose to go that route, not to mention mods are fairly cheap compared to the Z. Looks are subjective but if you dont like the big spoiler there are always people that want to trade trunks that have the WRX spoiler or no spoiler at all. Also, there is an excellent forum online that has a wealth of knowledge. It's a very valuable tool if you have a Subaru They also hold there value well considering there are so many on the market. I'd suggest finding one private party with low millage since boy racers do like to beat the crap out of them.
